Domain Joined Computer <> HomeGroup PC Two-Way File Exchange - Is there are workaround to the one way Homegroup limitation?
UPDATE 6/14/10 - The only way to do this is to unjoin the corporate domain and rejoin when needed. Make sure you record your computer name, full computer name, and domain you are joining. If everything is the same when you leave the domain and rejoin, your computer should rejoin without any problems. If your computer name or password changes, it might cause some challenges. Regardless, there has to be an easier way to do this. I have a work laptop (refer to it as PC1) running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit joined to a corporate domain with two user accounts for me: 1) The first user account is not used when the computer is connected to the Corporate Network while I'm at the office. While working at home the Homegroup is available and visible. All printers and Homegroup computers and folders are visible and available. 2) The second user account is joined to a corporate domain and only used at the office. I have a home computer (refer to it as PC2) that I use for work at home running Windows 7 Ulitmate 32-bit. I like to have a backup set of files accessible along and being able to work on this machine. This computer is connected to the Homegroup. It can see the other computers on the Homegroup except for PC1--because of the one way file restriction with Homegroups and domain-joined computers. Is there a tool or workaround that addresses this. I like to keep the two computers in sync and can't do this anymore since PC2 can't sync with PC1 files. The only thing that has worked is to unjoin the corporate domain or delete the second user account on PC1 and rejoin the domain when I go into the office, which is not ideal. I've read several postings and haven't found anything. Thanks for the help.
